The Most Important Thing

A few years ago, I came across a quote while listening to an interview with Zita Cobb, a Canadian business leader turned social entrepreneur. She cited this quote from a former boss as part of sharing lessons in building the truly one-of-a-kind Fogo Island Inn.

The most important thing is to keep the most important thing the most important thing.

This sentence has stayed with me since.

Progress toward what’s truly important can only be made when it is your most important thing.
